Upon registration, if a parent or student 18 years of age denotes that English is not the primary language spoken in the home, the system will administer an assessment to determine English language proficiency.  Given the results of the assessment, the student may qualify with parent approval for supplemental services to address enhancing academic English language proficiency.  The ESOL teacher ensures that academic plans for service meet the student's need, that parents recieve the necessary information to address their child's achievement in their native language, and that all teachers responsible for instruction are familiar with the state approved strategies to increase Engilsh language proficiency. Following initiation of services EL (Engilsh Learner) students, educated in the English language; are monitored yearly according to a prescribed assessment to monitor their level of proficiency.  As soon proficiency is is established, students are exited from the program following a temporary monitoring process.

The home language survey is attached in the document uploads section.  The links section provides additional information regarding Title III.
