Educators, Parent & Community Stakeholders

MCS has submitted a letter of intent to the Georgia Department of Education to apply for the Striving Reader/ L4GA Literacy for Learning, Living and Leading Grant. The grant promises to improve student literacy learning, teacher delivery of instruction, school climate, and academic outcomes across all sub-groups of children, from birth to grade 12.

Upon receiving initial technical assistance from the state about the grant, it has been determined that the grant is an excellent opportunity for student growth as outlined the system’s strategic plan.

Before the application process can begin, a comprehensive stakeholders group must be established in order to understand the required components of the grant, have a voice regarding the value or the grant, and have the opportunity to become part of a literacy team to assist with planning for the development of the grant.

An informational session regarding the system’s process for developing the grant will be held on Thursday January 11th @ 3:30 PM in the Parent Resource Center at the BOE Central Office 96 Perry Street. Participants are encouraged to participate in public commentary, accept or decline becoming a member of the literacy team should the grant be awarded, and complete a survey to assist to help the system to determine its final decision regarding moving forward with the grant application process.

We look forward to your input and participation. In the document uploads section is an RSVP to participate. The RSVP is to plan for the number and background of participants, it is not required to attend.
