Ms. Keumele Keown-School Counselor
My name is Keumele Keown, and I am proud to serve as the School Counselor at Miller County Middle/High School. I have been a part of the Miller County community for the past two years, and I’m excited to begin my third year working with our incredible students and staff. With over 11 years of experience as a school counselor in various districts, I bring a deep passion for supporting students’ academic, social, and emotional growth.
I hold a Bachelor's degree in Middle Grades Education from Valdosta State University and spent one year in the classroom before pursuing my true calling in school counseling. I earned both my Master’s in School Counseling and my Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from VSU as well.
I truly love what I do. Helping students discover and pursue their dreams—or even just realize they have dreams—is the most rewarding part of my work. I especially enjoy watching the transformation that takes place during the middle school years, as our 6th graders grow and mature into confident 8th graders ready to take on new challenges.
Being a school counselor allows me to build meaningful relationships with students and staff, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to make a positive impact each day. I look forward to another great year at Miller County as we continue working together toward excellence!
